VELMORA BEFORE & AFTER · Redesign concept · Furniture workshop

Same business. Completely different website.

A furniture repair and restoration workshop with real services, real clients and real work — and a site that showed none of it. The business stays exactly as it is; the website is rebuilt around it.

This is a redesign concept made for the VELMORA BEFORE & AFTER series. The business shown did not commission it, and the original website was not changed.

Context

The workshop repairs, restores and reupholsters furniture. It has a track record, a portfolio and clients who come back. Its website is a template from another decade: the strongest facts about the business are either missing or buried, and a first-time visitor has no reason to trust what they cannot see.

Approach

Nothing about the business was changed — not the services, not the prices, not the photographs. Only the presentation. The concept leads with the work itself, makes before-and-after the central device on every service page, puts the workshop's real materials and process where a visitor looks for reasons to trust, and shortens the path to a quote to one screen. The episode walks through the old site, the problems, and the new version side by side.

Design decisions

  • The work leads: real restoration photographs, not stock
  • Before / after as the central device on every service page
  • One calm palette, one type family, generous spacing
  • A quote request that fits on one screen on a phone

Engineering

  • Next.js App Router, static routes for services, projects, reviews and articles
  • Photographs from the original site re-encoded locally — nothing hot-linked
  • Interactive before / after slider, gallery lightbox and quote form
  • Built as a local demonstration; the original site was not touched and nothing was deployed

Technology

  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Motion
